On a cold Autumn Day

It's good to sit under a quilt and sew. This week I've finished the first block of Coxcombs and Stars and

started on the Top border. This shows half of it. So many berries.

and then I got out the next block from the Marriage quilt I started last year and got the shapes cut out and attached to the wool ready to be cut out and placed on the background.

and then this arrived back from being basted so that I can quilt the stems on the vines. This has now become a long time project as I find quilting very hard on the fingers and I will only be sewing it in small quantities.

I also got my Grand daughter's quilt back from the quilter and it requires the binding to be sewn down. Just the thing to sit on one's knee and stitch when it has been so cold. When we got up this morning it was 3C Brrrrrr! How long do I have to wait for Summer, I'm not a Winter person.

Oh, the Coxcomb and Stars is wonderful! You used that red & tan stripe fabric that I like so well. I had a small piece and used it. Jan Patek used it in some of her quilt designs and I have never found any more.

Dorothy, you do such beautiful work! I so enjoy seeing the pictures you post. I understand about the hand quilting. I have trouble with my hands, too, and have to limit my hand quilting to short periods.

Beautiful projects.
The vines will be worht the time - a few stitches here and there - variety is a good thing.

Beautiful applique blocks, always enjoy seeing your new projects. I have seen basting for quilts and like that idea for hand sewing, but they charge a fortune for it, so I have to stick to fusible, which is easier for me.

Ah you are an inspiration. Bought the Coxcomb kit (pattern and fabric) many moons ago and got as far as cutting out the freezer paper templates. What waylaid me is that I became utterly discouraged by the size - those blocks are huge. But thanks to you, I have decided to buckle down and get it done. Yours looks great.
